Three Lion-Sized Steps to Banish the Enemy’s Attacks — 12 Comments

  1. I agree with Edna. I love this scripture: “2. Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

I had it posted on my bedside dresser when I was a single mother crawling through college. Not a spirit of fear.

God is bigger than my troubles. Great post.

  2. Mary,
Thank you for this reminder. My goto verse is Ephesians 6:13. I really like how it is spelled out in the Amplified version. To myself I say, “now stand”.

Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious].

  3. Fear is such a hard thing to beat because as you showed, it sneaks up on you so unexpectedly. Before you realize what is happening, fear has surrounded us. Thanks for providing us with a way to battle our fears.

  4. Dear Mary!

Your initial sentence, fear being a God-given emotion stuck with me after reading your blog post.

One of my favourite scriptures when I feel fear is 2. Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

    Blessings!
    Edna Davidsen

  5. Love this! Very needed in my life today. I am about to speak to a group of ladies this Tuesday. I have spoken to them before. My heart is a little fearful, as I still try to determine the best word to share. Thanks for the reminder to spend more time with the Lion of Judah!

  6. Yes, good, good stuff, Mary! This is powerful, “fear trips the self-preservation switch inside us somewhere.”

I like how vulnerable and honest you were in stating how all the check marks were in place for the conference except the most important one…God’s Word. He reminds me of that so often. Now I have Scriptures (with my name inserted into each one ) on the wall right above my desk where I write.

And I pray, asking the Lord to partner with me in my writing, ministry, in all of life.

Besides the verses you mentioned, I like these (personalized):

God is faithful, by whom Karen was called into the fellowship of his son Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 1:9)

This is the word of the Lord to Karen; not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord Almighty. (Zechariah 4:6)
